The Howrah Bridge, short paragraph in simple words

     The Howrah Bridge   The Howrah Bridge on the river Hooghly is an example of modern engineering marvel . It is in fact a cantilever span bridge .  It is built on supports on both sides of and cantilevers spread out from those supports and are connected together in between.  Since there is no support in between the river, it does not get affected in respect of transportation . It has arms of different lengths.  One arm is 564 ft. long. Each of the two cantilever arms is 468 ft . long and each of the anchor arms is 325 ft. long . t was constructed with 27000 tons of tensile steel. The cost of the construction was Rs. 32 Lacs. The total length of the bridge is 2,150 ft.   It took 6 years to completed the construction . It is known as the fourth largest bridge in the world .  It was opened for public on 28th February , in the year 1943 . The Howrah Bridge is used to link Howrah ( and other parts of the country ) with Kolkata ....

          OUR COUNTRY INDIA

India is my motherland and I love my country from the core of my heart. The country is vast and beautiful. 

Countries around India - 

Countries like Burma, (Myanmar, presently) and Bangladesh are located on its east. Another neighboring country, Pakistan lies on the west of the country. 

Mountains, Seas and Oceans around India - 

It's also flanked by the Arabian Sea on the west. The great and enormous mountain range, the Himalayas is located on the north. It protects the country on that side. On the south of the country it has Bay of Bengal and the deep blue Indian Ocean. 

Major rivers in India - 

The Ganges is the largest and the longest river. Other major rivers are Jamuna, Godavari, Kavery, Narmada, etc. 

 
National facts of India - 

The country consists 28 states and 6 union territories. New Delhi is the capital of India. It is an ancient land. It is rich with its culture and heritage. Foreigners and invaders came here often. The British ruled over in for about two hundred years. Finally, it became independent on 15th August, 1947. 

Developments of India - 

It developed in agriculture, industry, space technology, tele-commmunication and art.

Problems in India - 

it is traumatised by poverty, illiteracy, terrorism and communal disharmony. But unity in diversity is the main characteristic of it. We must fight to maintain this unity and solve the problems.
