The Howrah Bridge, short paragraph in simple words

     The Howrah Bridge   The Howrah Bridge on the river Hooghly is an example of modern engineering marvel . It is in fact a cantilever span bridge .  It is built on supports on both sides of and cantilevers spread out from those supports and are connected together in between.  Since there is no support in between the river, it does not get affected in respect of transportation . It has arms of different lengths.  One arm is 564 ft. long. Each of the two cantilever arms is 468 ft . long and each of the anchor arms is 325 ft. long . t was constructed with 27000 tons of tensile steel. The cost of the construction was Rs. 32 Lacs. The total length of the bridge is 2,150 ft.   It took 6 years to completed the construction . It is known as the fourth largest bridge in the world .  It was opened for public on 28th February , in the year 1943 . The Howrah Bridge is used to link Howrah ( and other parts of the country ) with Kolkata ....

Importance Of Reading Books 

Man's thirst for obtaining knowledge is a characteristic of his own. It made him different from others. One has to read books to satisfy the thirst. Books provide knowledge and a clear concept of everything. 

Therefore books play an important role for man. There are many kind of books. Some books are purely academic in nature. Students have to study those books. Other books are classics, novels, epics, etc. 

These books also influence the mind of the readers. They make a person refined and more cultured. The reader's mind becomes broader and intellect becomes sharper. Reading of poetry, plays and novels gives us a esthetic feeling.

 Reading of books enables a person to perform jobs more efficiently. Reading of books is much necessary for complete development of a person. Reading of books helps one to solve problems systematically.

Reading of books is necessary for the progress of a country. The quality of people of a country is improved if most of them have the habit of reading books.

Books are trusted companions and true friends of man. Now-a-days life-style does not allow man to read much. But a person must try to read books as much as possible to lead an ideal life. Thus, one can have peace of mind also. So, reading of books is much important to man.
